Catch up!

Hiya!
I’m very excited to tell you guys about YoungLife, a mission that is very important to me, and why I am starting it in Gießen. When I was in High School, I began going to YoungLife and through their love for me I saw Jesus’ love for the first time. At YoungLife, I was invited to church and eventually began to have a personal relationship with Jesus Christ.

YoungLife is a relationship-centered ministry, connecting with teens where they are. We will be meeting twice a week; once for Life Groups, a Bible study, and once for Club, which is a “party with a purpose,” giving teens the chance to go crazy and regenerate from the stress of the week with friends, as well as hear about what Jesus has done in the leaders’ lives. In addition, YoungLife offers several camps where teens are given the opportunity to not only have a lot of fun, but also really experience Jesus’ love for them.

We plan to start our ministry with 13-16 year olds, with the intention of including others as YoungLife in Giessen grows. We want to welcome all people in this initial age range to us and begin to build relationships with them, regardless of which school they attend, their ethnicity, or their socioeconomic status. We want to create a place where all teens are able to experience the love of God, especially those that may not otherwise come into a church. Our central mission is to introduce adolescents to Jesus Christ and help them grow in their faith. This mission is sponsored exclusively through donations. Our hope is that all donors actively take on a role in the ministry. We don’t expect them to meet with the kids, but to stand steadfast in prayer for the teens of this city.

Here are a few things that you could pray for:
● That YoungLife is able to build good relationships with local churches and schools in Gießen
● That YoungLife is able to find a consistent place to meet, where we can have Club, a neutral atmosphere where all teens feel welcome
● That more volunteers are willing to commit their time and energy into this mission and making a difference in the lives of local teens. A diverse team of volunteers that is able to connect with many different interests the teens may have.
● That local people support YoungLife’s mission through volunteering in our committee or as leaders, through prayer, and financially, taking responsibility for the youth of this city.
