Dear Church family and friends,
Ending with ‘And it was night’ or ‘And there was darkness’ – or something of a similar nature – you might be lead to believe that John 13: 30 brings an end to our journey through Christ’s life. In his sermon from Sunday, Daniel looks at the events leading to this statement, as well as its literal and metaphorical meaning: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vWYbMItzJwE
This week in Church…
Praying Moms met online this morning at 9:30am. Their next online session takes place on Tuesday 18th at 7:30pm.
Young Adults’ Bible Study (YABS) meets on Tuesday evenings at 7pm. More information can be found in the WhatsApp group or by asking Pastor Johannes, Mona or Oliver. Another way you can get in touch is by writing to yabs@ibc-giessen.org.
Mid-Week Bible Study on Wednesday at 7pm is a hybrid session. If you are able to make it to the Campus für Christus site we look forward to seeing you there! If not, then you can be part of the group via Zoom.
Worship Service on Sunday takes place at the regular time of 11am at the Chapel Room in the FTH but you are more than welcome to be part of the online congregation should you not be able to be there physically. After the service we invite you to bring your favourite dish and spend time with us at our Pot-Luck!
For a full list of all upcoming events at IBC Giessen, please take a look at the Church Calendar on our website: https://www.ibc-giessen.org/calendar/. If you require a link to our livestream or any other online activity we have coming up this week, please e-mail office@ibc-giessen.org.
Coming Up…
After the food-fest that is Pot-Luck, the men will meet together for Breakfast on Saturday 22nd. If you are a man and would like to be part of the group, please write to the address given above and tell us what you’ll be bringing with you. We look forward to seeing you on Saturday morning at 9:30am in the Campus für Christus kitchen.
After the service on Sunday 23rd there will be a Packing & Pizza Party for the Seamen’s Christmas boxes. IBC Giessen will provide the pizza and drinks, so we need you to supply everything else – including the shoeboxes, wrapping paper and scellotape/glue. Of course, you may wish to pack your own box, and that day is also the deadline for handing that in. These boxes will be providing festive cheer and comfort for sailors who spend the season out on the open seas. It is part of an initiative organised by a missionary we support, Felix Henrichs. What should they be filled with? Tasty treats, a woolly hat, toothbrush and toothpaste, shower gel and shampoo (in a Ziplock bag to protect the other gifts from any potential leakages!), men’s deodorant, and a Christmas card with a personal greeting in English. Should you require any more information, please write to office@ibc-giessen.org.
Then it’s the Women’s turn! The annual Christmas Brunch, as is tradition, takes place on the Saturday that adjoins the First Advent Sunday – which is 29th November. Meeting at 10am at the Campus für Christus, the ladies can look forward to a festive feast, as well as a time of fellowship and singing. Even if you haven’t yet decided what you would like to bring to the brunch, we’d be thankful if you could sign up beforehand so that a place may be set for you! To tell us that you are planning on attending, either write your name down on the list which can be found in Church on Sunday, or write to office@ibc-giessen.org.
Have a blessed week!
