Updates August 2021

Update for Sunday, August 29th

Dear Church family and friends,

The end of August or the beginning of September might be a strange time for a feeling of life re-starting or the beginning of a new chapter; however for some that is often the case. On Monday a new school year starts, and teachers, parents and pupils all have their goals and aspirations for it – even if it is just to get through it in one piece! We pray that you have a successful academic year, and that you face all challenges that come your way with patience, grace and clear thinking.

The end of our summer guest preacher series means that Pastor Buddy will return to the IBC Giessen lectern this Sunday. As the weather seems to have firmly decided that it is autumn, we will be meeting indoors as rain is forecast. The rules regarding meeting inside have not changed though: masks should be worn when moving around the building and please maintain physical distancing.
Our service starts at 11am and you can join us at the FTH facilities or by watching the livestream (please e-mail office@ibc-giessen.org for a link).

Embrace this season of change. Even if you are not affected by an academic year calendar, God can still start something new in your life!

Update for Sunday, August 23rd

Dear Church family and friends,

Daniel L.’s “Moses Principle 2.2” sermon this coming Sunday will not only draw his thoughts on this topic to a conclusion, but also our series of summer guest preachers. In case you’ve missed any of our services over the past few weeks – or would like to listen to the sermons again – a summer playlist will be posted on our website and facebook page in due course.

This Sunday’s service will be livestreamed, but if you are healthy and able to attend our service at 11am at the FTH facilities, you will be made more than welcome. We will be meeting inside, so we do ask you to keep your mask on until you are seated and to keep in mind that we should be keeping a physical distance to one another.
For a link to the livestream, please e-mail office@ibc-giessen.org .

We are looking forward to seeing you there – however you choose to attend!

Update for Sunday, August 15th

Dear Church family and friends,

How are you enjoying summer so far? Have you been able to get away for a short break? Seen family and friends? Or has it not really felt like summer at all because of the way the weather has been? No matter what you are getting up to, we pray that you are getting the rest and re-energising that we all so desperately need after months with strict restrictions and lockdown rules.

With the return of the warm weather we are, of course, meeting outside this Sunday. The service will start at 11am and Daniel L. will be preaching. As has become standard by now, we will need to maintain physical distancing – and bring a mask just in case.

Last week’s attempt at live-streaming an outdoor service was more-or-less a success, therefore we will be doing so again, in case anyone would feel more comfortable worshipping from their own homes. If you would like to join us in this way, you will need to e-mail office@ibc-giessen.org for a link.

Have a blessed weekend – we look forward to seeing you on Sunday!

Update for Sunday, August 8th

Dear Church family and friends,

If there’s one thing that we have learnt over the past couple of Sundays, it’s that you can never trust the weather forecast! Believing that it would rain, we’ve been holding services indoors – only for it then to be dry, if not sunny.

That’s why this Sunday we’ve prepared for any circumstance and will trust God to show us what we need to do!

We plan to hold the service outside; however should it be raining tomorrow morning we will retreat indoors. Whatever happens though, we plan on livestreaming the service. It might take a little more work, and require a little more flexibility than we are used to – but God looks for willingness and is pleased when we try our best with good intentions at heart!

So, what do you need to do if you would like to attend our service tomorrow? Be at the FTH facilities at 11am and bring your mask, just in case. Regardless of whether we meet in- or outside, we will need to continue physically distancing from one another.

If you cannot make it tomorrow – or the risk that we do indeed meet inside is too high for you – then you can follow along on our livestream. To get a link to it, please e-mail office@ibc-giessen.org. Please be patient with us if something does not work in the way it could or should – this will be our first attempt at streaming outdoors.

While we may not be able to rely on the weather and people’s predictions of it, we can rely on God. We trust Him that He will bless our efforts in spreading His Good News.

Be blessed in all that you do this week – and know that He is on your side!

Update for Sunday, August 1st

Dear Church family and friends,
While the weather may have held out for yesterday evening’s Worship Night, we are not sure that the same can be said for tomorrow morning’s service. Given that it has been quite blustery and has been getting a little cooler during the day recently, we have decided to hold tomorrow morning’s service inside.

All of the details remain the same as in previous weeks: we meet at 11am at the FTH facilities, and a mask must be worn when moving around the building, as well as the requirement to maintain physical distancing. There will be a livestream for this service too, so if you would like to join us in that way please e-mail office@ibc-giessen.org.

We are very sorry that all of these details are coming at such short notice – somehow Sunday has arrived much quicker than we had anticipated! We hope that we get to see some of you at Church tomorrow regardless!

Update Saturday, July 31st

Dear Church family and friends,

Yesterday evening’s Worship Night was a resounding success! It was so refreshing to be able to sing aloud in the open air, forget the ever-changing and ever-more complicated times we live in, and just focus solely on God.

We will keep you informed as to when – not „if“– the next Worship Night will be!
