Dear Church family and friends,
Have you ever read a book or watched a film or television series despite knowing what’s going to happen? Perhaps not all the minute details, but enough to make you wonder what exactly goes on, what the context of the events are? Pastor Buddy’s sermon series is a little like that: we can read of Jesus’ life in the Bible – we know under what circumstances He was born and how He returned to His Father – but a deeper understanding can be gained by looking closer and really exploring each individual moment: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FN-2FkCUS6I
This week in Church…
Our Young Adults will meet in their regular way on Tuesday evening at 7pm. As there are so many who belong to YABS, they gather together in smaller groups to study, pray and share fellowship together. To find out which group is nearest to you or which one is the English speaking one, please write to yabs@ibc-giessen.org.
There will be Mid-Week Bible Study this week! The physical meeting takes place in the Israel room at the FTH, with a Zoom option for those unable to make it there in time. So, grab your Bible and turn to Galatians in time for Wednesday at 7pm – and e-mail office@ibc-giessen.org for a link beforehand if you need to!
If you are a man and you have re-gained your appetite after all the indulgences of Christmas, then the Men’s Breakfast this Saturday (25th) at 9:30am is the place for you! A time of food, fellowship and spiritual input, we are looking forward to seeing lots of guys for the first breakfast of the year. If you could get in touch with us via office@ibc-giessen.org to tell us that you will be there and what you will be bringing with you that would be greatly appreciated!
… and just like that it is the last Sunday of January! Not only will be having our service at 11am, but we will also be holding our Business Meeting afterward. If you are not able to attend either occasion, you are more than welcome to join in via the livestream; however, as we are not able to guarantee anonymity, you will not be able to vote in the Business Meeting. Neither can we ensure that any questions that you may have will be seen or read at the meeting, so please refrain from commenting them in the chat field. Just as a reminder, only members are eligible to vote, and we do encourage as many members as possible to be present, as we will be discussing and voting on important aspects of Church life such as the finances, as well as making some changes to the Leadership. If you require a link to the livestream or have any questions on those topics which you would like answering ahead of the Business Meeting, please don’t hesitate to get in contact with Pastor Buddy, or Philipp our treasurer, by writing to office@ibc-giessen.org.
Ladies only…
In February there will of course be the next King’s Daughters event. We will give you more details on that in next week’s announcement – but ladies, it might be worth noting the 8th February in your diaries.
Mom’s Prayer group is a new initiative starting in February. Sessions will take place via Zoom, alternating between Monday mornings and Tuesday evenings each week. If this is something you are interested in, please get in contact with either Sung or Dolly.
No doubt there have been two world events on everybody’s mind this weekend just gone. The first would be the currently ongoing inauguration of the new president in the US.
Over in the Middle East, a rather fragile ceasefire has been agreed upon. Both situations pose a lot of questions – they bring about a sense of insecurity even if the opposite is intended. As we watch the news and observe what is happening in the world, we can know that there will be answers and that there will be certainty when we take those concerns to Jesus.
May God bless you abundantly and give you peace this week!
