Dear Church family and friends,
Decision time: what will you do with Jesus? How is he King to me – or do I not really care? Pastor Lucas poses this question in his Palm Sunday sermon delivered during our service yesterday. To listen again, just click here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=a0FCfYe_vpA
This week in Church…
Young Adults’ Bible Study (YABS), according to our website’s calendar, will meet this week as one larger group for ‘Big YABS’ on Tuesday at 6:30pm in the Student Kitchen of the FTH. Here, they will share food, sing together, and learn from God’s Word. If you would like to join them, or know more about YABS at all, you can drop them a line by writing to yabs@ibc-giessen.org
Praying Moms met this (Monday) morning at 9:30am, and will meet again next week on Tuesday 22nd at 7:30pm on Zoom.
Mid-Week Bible Study will not be taking place this week.
Maundy Thursday (17th) at 7pm is when we will reflect on our Saviour’s death. In this sombre service, we will share in the Lord’s Table, as He had done before making the ultimate sacrifice for. The doors to the Chapel Room at the FTH will be open early for a time of quiet personal prayer and reflection before the service begins. If you are not able to make it, there will be a livestream.
As is tradition at IBC Giessen, there will be no Good Friday service.
Resurrection Sunday begins with a breakfast together, before we head into a celebratory service at 11am – with a livestream available for those unable to attend. There has been a list at the back of the Chapel Room for a couple of weeks, but if you have forgotten to put your name down on it – regardless of whether you made a decision about what you’re bringing – please get in touch with us using the e-mail address given below as soon as possible. The Church is providing bread rolls and drinks, and we would like to make sure we have enough! Eggs, jams, meats, cheese and anything else you feel belongs to a breakfast is the responsibility of the congregation!
After the service, there will be an Easter Egg Hunt for the children. We would be thankful if the parents could bring along a basket or bag for their children to store what they’ve found, but if you are unable to that’s ok – just let us know! The children will need something to search for, though. If you have any contributions, find Philipp before the service ends on Sunday morning…
If you require a link to our livestream or any other online activity we have coming up this week, please e-mail office@ibc-giessen.org. For a full list of all upcoming events at IBC Giessen, please take a look at the Church Calendar on our website: https://www.ibc-giessen.org/calendar/ .
After Easter…
There will be another chance to have breakfast together – but only if you are a man. The next Men’s Breakfast takes place on Saturday 26th April at 9:30am. As usual, they will meet in the Student Kitchen at the FTH, but if no-one brings any food there will be nothing to eat! So, if you are a gentleman and wish to spend some time in fellowship with other gentlemen, please write to office@ibc-giessen.org telling us what you plan on bringing with you.
In this Holy Week, may you know the freedom and closeness to God that Jesus Christ’s death on the cross brings you. Be blessed!
