Update for Monday, June 16th 2025

Dear Church family and friends,

While not as long as some of the sermons of the last weeks, Pastor Johannes’ sermon from Sunday is not short on clarity and relevancy to the situation we are currently experiencing in our Church family. As we mentioned last week, IBC Giessen are currently in shock and mourning the loss of a dear member of our family. Pastor Johannes’ topic of the necessity of death – particularly that of Jesus’ – is especially pertinent in these times: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LAqV-KBt2o0

This week in Church…

Praying Moms will gather together via Zoom tomorrow (Tuesday) evening at 7:30pm. Next week, their meeting is on Monday (23rd) morning at 9:30am.

Young Adults’ Bible Study (YABS) takes place on Tuesday evening, with groups meeting around Giessen at 7pm. If you would like to find out more about what they are studying or who is meeting where, please write to yabs@ibc-giessen.org

Mid-Week Bible Study continues on Wednesday evening at 7pm in the Israel Room in the FTH. If you are unable to make it for that time, you are more than welcome to join this study on Israel’s Kings via Zoom.

Our Worship Service will take place at end of the week, in its usual slot of Sunday morning at 11am. If you are unwell, or unable to get to the Chapel Room for any other reason, we encourage you to join in online. It will be an enormous shame if you do miss it though, as we will be having our Church BBQ afterward! Please don’t forget to reply to get in contact using the e-mail address below and tell us that you will be joining us, as we would like to order an appropriate amount of sausages to put on the barbecue! All contributions of salads, sides and desserts will be very much appreciated.

If you require a link to our livestream or any other online activity we have coming up this week, please e-mail office@ibc-giessen.org.For a full list of all upcoming events at IBC Giessen, please take a look at the Church Calendar on our website: https://www.ibc-giessen.org/calendar/.

Coming Up…

This coming weekend a BBQ and next weekend, breakfast – it’s safe to say that the men don’t go hungry in this Church! On Saturday 28th at 9:30am, the Men’s Breakfast will take place in the Student’s Kitchen at the FTH. So, if you are a gentleman and would like to share some food, fellowship and spiritual input with other men, please write to the e-mail address given above and tell us what you’ll bringing with you for the buffet.

A slight change to what was previously advertised: the Baptism service is on 17th August, and not the 10th. The earlier date was given some while ago, with the later date being on the slides during Worship Service. The 17th is correct with all other details remaining the same.

To close, we’d like to remind you to pray. There’s a multitude of things to pray for: the wars in Israel and Ukraine; the political tensions in many different countries; riots in America; those, including ourselves, experiencing grief and in mourning. There are many reasons to seek counsel from God, but so often we don’t know what to say, or how we should be praying. It makes us feel uncomfortable and perhaps a little embarrassed – but God knows what we intend before we can put it into words. He’s looking for your faithfulness, your willingness to build a relationship with him. He is there to listen, even when our hearts are in turmoil.

We pray that God brings you solace, peace and blessings this week.
