Update for Monday, August 4th 2025

Dear Church family and friends,

“Bless those who persecute you; bless and do not curse.” Romans 12 : 14

We all know people who just grind our gears. They know the buttons to push, or seem to have us in their focus because something about us meets the criteria of what they do not like. We are a target for their pain, rage and bad sentiment. But we cannot play like-for-like. In Pastor Buddy’s latest sermon from our Verse of the Year series, he suggests a few other ways of coping with these unwanted attacks – including some other mottos and Bible verses which might help: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1C4mkB8myBg

This week in Church…

Praying Moms met this morning (Monday) at 9:30am. Their next meeting is on Tuesday 12th August at 7:30pm.

Young Adults’ Bible Study (YABS) takes place on Tuesday evening at 6:30pm, meeting as ‘Big YABS’ in the Student Kitchen of the FTH. All the smaller groups will gather together in one place to share food – so bring a dish! – prayer and encouragement. To find out more, please write to yabs@ibc-giessen.org.

Mid-Week Bible Study on Wednesday at 7pm meets both online and in the Israel Room of the FTH. They are coming toward the end of their study on the kings of Israel, but don’t let that bother you if you wish to join them for the first time!

Worship Service takes place on the usual day and time of Sunday at 11am in the Chapel Room of the FTH. If you are unable to make it, you are more than welcome to join our livestream.

If you require a link to our livestream or any other online activity we have coming up this week, please e-mail office@ibc-giessen.org. For a full list of all upcoming events at IBC Giessen, please take a look at the Church Calendar on our website: https://www.ibc-giessen.org/calendar/.

Baptism Service…

As Pastor Buddy said on Sunday, Baby Dedications are more of a promise and decision that the parents make. A Baptism Service is a personal declaration of faith. The believer re-affirms to themselves, their families and us as their Church family that they have died and risen with Christ. It is a public expression of a decision, and act of worship, for the God who gave His all that so that we may live.

We will have such a Baptism Service after our morning service on 17th August. In order to have a surface of water in which to baptise, we will need to change locations to the Wissmarer See. If you require directions or need a lift, please write to the e-mail address given above. Otherwise, we look forward to rejoicing with our fellow Brothers and Sisters in Christ on the 17th at 2pm.

Blessings and God’s grace be poured out on to you this week!
