Update for Sunday, September 7th 2025

Dear Church family and friends,

‘Living harmoniously’ is one of those ideals that starts with us as individuals. If we’re inward looking, how can we recognise the needs of others? If we are solely focussed on ourselves then it is little wonder that no-one cheers with us when things go right. This Sunday’s portion of our passage of the year – Romans 12: 15-16 – is perhaps well known, but Pastor Lucas’ sermon on it is a useful reminder: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=v8mSh60KBRU

This week in Church…

Praying Moms takes place via Zoom on Tuesday (9th) at 7:30pm. Their next meeting after that will also be online, on Monday 15th at 9:30am.

Young Adults’ Bible Study (YABS) had a spontaneous ‘Big YABS’ session last  Tuesday, but are back to their smaller groups this week with everyone meeting at 7pm. If you would like some more information, please write to yabs@ibc-giessen.org.

Mid-Week Bible Study begins a new topic this coming Wednesday (10th). “The Holy Spirit and His Work in our Lives” will be discussed and studied from 7pm onwards in the Israel Room at the FTH, as well as online for those who may not be able to get there on time.

King’s Daughters takes place on Saturday 13th. At the time of writing there have been no details given as to location or meeting time, so we suggest that you keep an eye out in the WhatsApp group or write to the e-mail address given below nearer the time. The women will be looking at the benefits of committing passages of the Bible to memory, as well as techniques in order to achieve this. While no-one will be asked to recite, anyone interested in participating should try learning Galatians 2:20 by heart and think about what helped them learn it.

Worship Service takes place on the usual day and time of Sunday at 11am in the Chapel Room of the FTH. To be part of our online congregation, just click on this link.

For a full list of all upcoming events at IBC Giessen, please take a look at the Church Calendar on our website: https://www.ibc-giessen.org/calendar/. If you require a link to our livestream or any other online activity we have coming up this week, please e-mail office@ibc-giessen.org.

A visit from one of our missionaries…

We’ve only just started September, but we are already going to mention something that will happen on its last weekend: the Knapps will be visiting us.

During the service on Sunday 28th, Peter will be reporting from his ministry with Wycliffe in Guam, as well as bringing the Word of God to us. As a thank you and an opportunity for the newer faces from IBC Giessen to get to know him and his family better, we would like to have a Pot-Luck style meal after Church. So, please bring a dish!

A Pause…

You may have noticed that this is reaching you on a Sunday evening, not Monday evening – or very early Tuesday morning, however you view it. This is because the communications team are taking a short break from Monday morning. There will be no sermon videos or further text updates on this Facebook page or our website until their return at the end of September. If you have any questions, please get in contact with us via our e-mail address given above.

Blessings and God’s grace be poured out on to you this week!
