Update for Monday, September 29th 2025

Dear Church family and friends,

We’re back – and we’ve brought souvenirs in the form of sermon videos!

The first got a little damaged on the journey, but we have tried our best to fix it – it’s Pastor Johannes’ sermon from 14th September: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Rh6DAYNe0OY.

On 21st September, Daniel referred to ‘the Hobbit moment’ and the adventures described in Tolkien’s beloved books in his preaching of the first sixteen verses of Matthew 26: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VFkZ9AaMFdA

Whereas Peter Knapp took us on a journey through the book of Romans last Sunday: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hxQTbl3yjQ4

This week in Church…

Before we take a look at this week, we wanted to remind you that there will be a change of location for our non-Sunday activities. From Wednesday 1st October, all weekday and Saturday activities will be taking place in the Campus für Christus/Crusade buildings. As you will see it is not relevant this week, so we will give more information as to precisely where and which rooms when necessary.

Praying Moms took place this (Monday) morning at 9:30am. Next week, their online prayer time takes place on Tuesday 7th October at 7:30pm.

Young Adults’ Bible Study (YABS) will meet in their various groups dotted around Giessen. They all gather on a Tuesday evening at 7pm, but to keep the numbers manageable they’ve split into smaller units. To find out more information, please write to yabs@ibc-giessen.org.

Mid-Week Bible Study is an online only event this week. On Wednesday evening at 7pm, you will need your Bible and a Zoom link.

Worship Service takes place on the usual day and time of Sunday at 11am in the Chapel Room of the FTH. As it will be the first Sunday of the month there will be a look at the next portion of scripture from Romans 12, as well as a chance to take part in the Lord’s Table. If you are joining us via our livestream, we suggest you prepare yourself some juice and bread before logging on.

If you require a link to our livestream or any other online activity we have coming up this week, please e-mail office@ibc-giessen.org. For a full list of all upcoming events at IBC Giessen, please take a look at the Church Calendar on our website: https://www.ibc-giessen.org/calendar/.

Further Dates for your Diaries…

Following the success of the last youth event, another is being planned for 19th October. Pastor Johannes and Nathanael are organising something for after the service, so if you have a slightly older child who would like to get involved please get in touch with them or write to the e-mail address given above.

Our annual autumnal Pot-Luck takes place after the service on 16th November. It might be a bit early for sign-up sheets, but maybe you’d already like to think of a dish that you’d like to bring…

There will be a Bank Holiday on Friday this week, meaning that many workplaces, as well as schools, will be closed. As we consider the events that lead to the Reunification of Germany, let us also keep in mind those places that do not live in unity and are longing for reconciliation, be it politically, socially or otherwise.

Have a blessed week!
