Dear Church family and friends,
Perhaps one of the most perplexing things about faith is that answers seem to be both completely inadequate yet somehow sufficient at the same time. Whether you are the one giving or receiving the answer, sometimes not all bases are covered, the question is too nuanced – or the answer is suspiciously simple. As Christians, we often feel that saying ‘Jesus’ is enough – which is true – but the scope of ‘why’ is difficult to phrase in a comprehensive, succinct way. Pastor Johannes looked at John 14: 5 – 7 during his sermon on Sunday, and came across the many different ‘ways’ Jesus is the solution to every question: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=69HE15Xaf-I.
This week in Church…
Praying Moms had their online prayer session this morning (Monday) at 9:30am. Next week they will pray together on Tuesday evening at 7:30pm.
Young Adults’ Bible Study (YABS) meets on Tuesday evenings at 7pm. More information can be found in the WhatsApp group or by asking Pastor Johannes, Mona or Oliver. Another way you can get in touch is by writing to yabs@ibc-giessen.org.
Mid-Week Bible Study returns on Wednesday at 7pm, via Zoom only. Pastor Buddy will resume the topic of ‘The Kings of Israel’, so we hope to see some familiar faces online! If you weren’t able to make it for the first block of this Bible Study, that’s not a problem – newcomers are always welcome!
Men’s Breakfast was paused last month due to all the Christmas events, but it is back in business on Saturday at 9:30am. We would appreciate it if all men who plan on attending could write to the e-mail address given below telling us what they’ll be contributing to the buffet, as well as if they are bringing any guests with them. The group will meet in the Kitchen at the Campus für Christus building. Should you have not made it over there yet, here is a small map explaining how you can gain access: https://resources.ibc-giessen.org/resources/files/ibc.map.campusfuerchristus.jpg.
Worship Service will take place at the usual time of 11am in the Chapel Room at the FTH. Afterward we will hold a Business Meeting, to which everyone is invited. Please bear in mind that only members will be eligible to vote on the Budget however those who are not yet members may sit in and listen to the meeting. Both events will be livestreamed, but those watching online will not be able to vote in the meeting, regardless of their membership status.
For a full list of all upcoming events at IBC Giessen, please take a look at the Church Calendar on our website: https://www.ibc-giessen.org/calendar/. If you require a link to our livestream or any other online activity we have coming up this week, please e-mail office@ibc-giessen.org.
As the long nights of winter drag on, we must remember that the Light of the World came to conquer darkness. He was born to light the way to our Lord and to show us how to live in His brightness and warmth. Step into that beam of light and let Him shine within, and through, you!
Be blessed this week!
