Dear Church family and friends,
You know things are serious when you are taken off to a side-room.
Be it school, work, or Church, a place without distractions is often used when a discussion needs to happen. Perhaps it’s a situation that has gotten out of hand and needs resolving quickly and finally – or, if it’s at school, it might be done to aid the learning of a concept that the pupil simply does not appear to understand. This certainly seems to apply to Philip and the other disciples of Jesus, as they talk with their Teacher in John 14 : 8 – 12: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=URyrjXy8Sro
This week in Church…
Praying Moms will meet for their next online prayer meeting tomorrow – Tuesday 27th – at 7:30pm. Next week, it’ll be on Monday 2nd February at 9:30am.
Young Adults’ Bible Study (YABS) meets on Tuesday evenings at 7pm. More information can be found in the WhatsApp group or by asking Pastor Johannes, Mona or Oliver. Another way you can get in touch is by writing to yabs@ibc-giessen.org.
Mid-Week Bible Study takes place on Wednesday at 7pm, via Zoom only. ‘The Kings of Israel’ is what Pastor Buddy will be reflecting on, and is part of a longer series. Don’t worry if you’ve not been to any prior sessions – newcomers are always welcome!
Worship Service will take place at the usual time of 11am in the Chapel Room at the FTH. As it is the first Sunday of the month, we will be returning to our question of the year “We Praise God when…?”. Also, we will be taking part in the Lord’s Table together. If you are watching from home, you may wish to collect some juice and bread before joining the livestream.
For a full list of all upcoming events at IBC Giessen, please take a look at the Church Calendar on our website: https://www.ibc-giessen.org/calendar/. If you require a link to our livestream or any other online activity we have coming up this week, please e-mail office@ibc-giessen.org.
An Addition to February’s announcements…
Some of you may be aware of the Muslim festival of Ramadan, where Muslims fast for a month in the hope of understanding God better and receiving revelations or signs from him. The Evangelische Allianz is calling Christians to prayer during this time – 18th February to 19th March – so that Jesus reveals Himself to be Lord and Saviour to those of the Muslim faith. A daily devotional book is available to guide our prayers, and in our Church announcements we will pick out one of them for the week. Should you wish to order the booklet so that you may follow along more closely in the way that is intended, please write to us or visit the Evangelische Allianz Deutschland’s website: www.ead.de
News from the Mission Field…
The organisation that Felix Henrichs works for – Seamen’s Christian Friend Society Rotterdam – has released a new video re-introducing themselves and their work: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=I9InWG6RDRw
Our Business Meeting yesterday was a productive and informative time. We are so thankful that it was well attended and that we could reach some decisions regarding Church life. It was also interesting to see and hear about how God has provided for IBC Giessen, taking care of His Church and all those in it, in the way that only a Good Shepherd would do.
We pray that you have a good week and can keep safe from all the predicted snow. Should it be that we have to cancel any of our in-person events, we will let you know through all the usual channels.
Be blessed!
