Update for Monday, February 9th 2026

Dear Church family and friends,

Prayer is not something to be underestimated: it provides us with a connection with God, giving us a way to seek comfort from Him, praise Him and be honest with Him. He may know what is on our hearts and minds long before we bow our heads, but having and using this opportunity to communicate with Him is what builds and strengthens our relationship with Him. Yet we can often feel as though our prayers are unanswered, let alone listened to, if that which we have brought to God doesn’t get solved immediately. Pastor Buddy’s sermon from Sunday offers up some reasons as to why this may be: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QXEHkKNIO4k

This week in Church…

Praying Moms meets via Zoom tomorrow (Tuesday) at 7:30pm. Next week, their online prayer session takes place on Monday 16th at 9:30am.

Young Adults’ Bible Study (YABS) meets on Tuesday evenings at 7pm. More information can be found in the WhatsApp group or by asking Pastor Johannes, Mona or Oliver. Another way you can get in touch is by writing to yabs@ibc-giessen.org.

Mid-Week Bible Study continues on Wednesday evening at 7pm. This is an online only study on the Kings of Israel.

Worship Service will take place at the usual time of 11am on Sunday in the Chapel Room at the FTH. We hope that you will join us in person, but if you can’t make it because you are ill or elsewhere, you are more welcome to watch along on our livestream.

For a full list of all upcoming events at IBC Giessen, please take a look at the Church Calendar on our website: https://www.ibc-giessen.org/calendar/. If you require a link to our livestream or any other online activity we have coming up this week, please e-mail office@ibc-giessen.org.

Ladies Only…

King’s Daughters are considering meeting for breakfast either this Saturday (14th) or next Saturday (21st). The Saturday with the most potential attendees will be chosen. A start time and location will also follow. So if you are a woman looking for the company of other women we encourage you to either look in the WhatsApp group for more information, or write to the e-mail given above and we will make sure that you are kept informed.

Much is made of Valentine’s Day, which is coming up this Saturday. Some (attempt to) avoid it, others go all out. While we are constantly reminded of Jesus’ love for us, it is good to be reminded to be examples of that love to others. It may be a prayer, an apology given or accepted and forgiveness granted – or in practical help. Whoever God puts on your path this week, we pray that you can be a blessing to them, showing them the grace and compassion that Jesus shows us.
