Update for Monday, March 30th 2026

Dear Church family and friends,

While editing this week’s recording of the sermon, it became apparent that the audio was perfectly clear and flowing, but the visual was mostly static. To eliminate any distraction, the picture has been covered entirely – so you may listen to Larry Norman’s message on John 15 : 5 – 8 from Sunday, here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_YIzpUHH6tU

This week in Church…

Young Adults’ Bible Study (YABS) meets on Tuesday evenings at 7pm. More information can be found in the WhatsApp group or by asking Pastor Johannes, Mona or Oliver. Another way you can get in touch is by writing to yabs@ibc-giessen.org.

Mid-Week Bible Study will not take place this week due to our…

…Maundy Thursday Service on Thursday 2nd April. The Chapel room at the FTH will be open from 6:30pm quiet personal reflection before the service starts at 7pm. It will be a quieter service, focussing on what happened leading up to the death of Jesus and, more importantly, why. It will include the Lord’s Table. If you are unable to make it in time there will be a livestream available, so you may wish to grab some juice and bread before logging on.

On Easter Sunday (5th April), we’ll start with our traditional Easter breakfast from 9am. The size of the buffet will depend on how much everyone brings! No doubt there will be lots of eggs, but we don’t turn anything away – if you think it belongs on a breakfast plate, bring enough to share!
After our hearty breakfast, we will celebrate the empty tomb in our Resurrection Sunday service at 11am.Of course, there will be a livestream for those celebrating elsewhere.
Straight after the service there will be a Children’s Easter Egg hunt. Donations of individually wrapped sweets are welcomed from everyone, and should be given to Philipp as soon as you see him! All potential treasures will be shared among all children, so please do not bring anything intended for a specific child – as this is not fair on the others and may lead to upset. It would be helpful if the children already had an Easter basket or bag to collect with, but the Church does have some spare just in case.

For a full list of all upcoming events at IBC Giessen, please take a look at the Church Calendar on our website: https://www.ibc-giessen.org/calendar/. If you require a link to our livestream or any other online activity we have coming up this week, please e-mail office@ibc-giessen.org.

Holy Week…

In the lead up to Easter, we have been posting some Bible verses and pictures on our facebook page, to encourage reflection on the impact that this time of year has on our lives. If you don’t yet follow us, you can find us here: https://www.facebook.com/ibcgiessen .

Easter is the central point of our faith. Jesus Christ pays the ultimate sacrifice so that we may have a relationship with our Creator Father. It is a destiny fulfilled, a promise kept. He died so that we may live: safe in the knowledge that what He says is true; that our Father loves us, and that He lives! We pray that you can take the time to pray on this, internalise it and celebrate it this week and over the coming elongated weekend. Next Monday is Easter Monday, a Bank Holiday, so the Church announcement will be sent out on Tuesday evening.

Have a blessed week!
