Update for Monday, March 23rd 2026

Dear Church family and friends,

If we want a harvest in the late summer/autumn, then spring is the time to start taking care of those crops. That might mean sowing, planting, pruning… …the list really is endless! They aren’t necessarily the nicest of jobs, but the results are worth it. We humans need a little de-weeding and re-potting too sometimes, as Pastor Buddy explained in his sermon from Sunday: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1eadUo0F3FQ

This week in Church…

Young Adults’ Bible Study (YABS) meets on Tuesday evenings at 7pm. More information can be found in the WhatsApp group or by asking Pastor Johannes, Mona or Oliver. Another way you can get in touch is by writing to yabs@ibc-giessen.org.

Mid-Week Bible Study continues on Wednesday night at 7pm via Zoom.

Men’s Breakfast will take place on Saturday morning at 9:30am. While it is no longer possible to access the Campus für Christus inner court by car, the buildings themselves are still open for use. Talstrasse cannot be entered via Am Unteren Rain, but you can get to it via Klingelbachweg, although that is also restricted. This limits parking, but parking on the road remains possible. If you are a man who plans on joining in, please write to the e-mail address given below and let us know what you will bring.

Worship Service on Sunday morning will take place in the FTH Chapel Room, as usual. We will of course start at 11am, but the clocks would have gone forward during the night. Don’t get caught out! It is also Palm Sunday, so we will be marking the beginning of Holy Week. As always, a livestream will be available for those unable to get to the service.

For a full list of all upcoming events at IBC Giessen, please take a look at the Church Calendar on our website: https://www.ibc-giessen.org/calendar/. If you require a link to our livestream or any other online activity we have coming up this week, please e-mail office@ibc-giessen.org.

Holy Week…

Over on our facebook page, we will be posting daily updates during the run up to Easter. Starting on Palm Sunday we will follow the events of that week and encourage you to reflect on the impact that this time of year has on your lives. If you don’t yet follow us, you can find us here: https://www.facebook.com/ibcgiessen .

Easter…

As promised last week, there are more details about our upcoming Easter services and celebrations.

Starting with Maundy Thursday, 2nd April, we will be gathering for short reflective service in the Chapel Room at the FTH. There will be music playing from 6:30pm, so that anyone who needs a moment to pause and pray may do so – the service itself will begin at 7pm. We will be honouring Christ’s sacrifice together through song, prayer and by sharing the Lord’s Table.

Then, on Sunday 5th April it’s time to celebrate! A good day always starts with a full breakfast, and that’s what we will enjoy from 9am – but only if everyone brings something to share with them! There is a sign-up sheet so that we don’t have too much of one thing, so don’t forget to put your name down at Church on Sunday.

Straight after breakfast it’s time to praise the Lord for the victory of Easter. His Son lives! At 11am we will have our Resurrection Day service, where we will rejoice in the fact that He has risen indeed!

Following the service there will be an Easter Egg hunt for the children. We ask for donations of individually wrapped candies and chocolates for all the children to find – parents, please do not bring special items that are intended for only your children. Any children interested in taking part should bring an empty Easter bag or basket with them to collect their treasures.
