Update for Monday, June 8th 2026

Dear Church family and friends,

Asking others for help can be difficult based on a number of differing factors: how the person asking feels about presenting their problem to another; what the issue is at all; and whether the person seeking assistance knows the person they are to get into contact with. For some it might come very easily, for others it may require an enormous amount of courage. There is of course another group of people who insist that they do not ever need the help from anyone. They are independent and can manage on their own, thank you very much. What all these people have in common, though, is the use of prayer. Even a non-believer might become so desperate that they, earnestly or not, turn to God with a fleeting “help me!”. Psalm 121 shows us what God does when He is called upon, no matter how you feel about expressing your need for help: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zBnFXxj7twk

This week in Church…

Young Adults’ Bible Study (YABS) meets on Tuesday evenings at 7pm. More information can be found in the WhatsApp group or by asking Pastor Johannes, Mona or Oliver. Another way you can get in touch is by writing to yabs@ibc-giessen.org.

Mid-Week Bible Study is back at it this week, with the next session in their Kings of Israel series. This is an online only event on Wednesday at 7pm.

King’s Daughters will be hosting their next breakfast at the Campus für Christus building this coming Saturday at 9:30am. So that they can have an idea of how many women to expect, please write to the e-mail address given below or leave a note in the WhatsApp group.

Worship Service will take place on Sunday morning at its usual time of 11am in the Chapel Room at the FTH facilities. If you are not able to be there, you are more than welcome to join us on our livestream.

For a full list of all upcoming events at IBC Giessen, please take a look at the Church Calendar on our website: https://www.ibc-giessen.org/calendar/. If you require a link to our livestream or any other online activity we have coming up this week, please e-mail office@ibc-giessen.org.

Barbecue reminder…

There is now a sign-up list for all those planning on sticking around after the service on 21st June for our barbecue! The Church will be providing sausages, and the rest of the congregation is asked to bring sides, salads and desserts. Even if you have not decided what you will bring we would be grateful if you could write your name on the list telling us you will attend, so that we may buy an appropriate amount of sausages – you can either wait until Sunday, or use the e-mail address given above.

Have a blessed week!
