Dear Church family and friends,
Controversies are in themselves controversial: sometimes a situation does not warrant the description, but is given it anyway. Sometimes someone says something controversial just to get attention. Nowadays, everything seems to be, or cause, a controversy. The same can be said in Biblical times, when the teachings of Jesus were deemed controversial by the Pharisees. Pastor Buddy looked at yet another controversy in the book of Matthew 22 in his sermon on Sunday: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GDsQBAYzqNc

Returning briefly to the subject of controversy, we would like to also bring up the topic of the national elections. Voting will take place on Sunday – and we encourage those eligible to do so to get to your polling station either before or after the service – but the lead up has not been without rumours, protests and anger. It seems that any election, throughout the whole world, is pre-faced with big statements, bold claims and perhaps a pinch of wishful thinking. They cause emotions to run high and can potentially result in fractions being built. The right to vote, however, is both a privilege and a responsibility. Let us pray for those exercising this right – and treat them with love and respect if their views do not align with our own – as well Germany as a whole as this next stage of the political process is underway.
We pray that God blesses you richly and gives you peace this week!
