Update for Monday, May 26th 2025

Dear Church family and friends,

“Christianity is a resting faith”.

We can see your eyes rolling. But – as Felix Henrichs so passionately reminded us yesterday morning – the work is done. “Jesus is better”, as the book of Hebrews tells us. Not our own efforts, but His. If you are struggling in this marathon life, which often feels like a sprint, then we encourage you to listen to Felix’s sermon:  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6d6nXuAflok

This week in Church…

Praying Moms met this morning (Monday 26th) at 9:30am via Zoom. Don’t worry if you missed it, or Mondays at that time don’t work for you, as their next time of prayer will be on Tuesday at 7:30pm next week.

Young Adults’ Bible Study (YABS) continues this week in their smaller groups dotted around Giessen. Everyone meets on Tuesday at 7pm and there’s even an English speaking group! If you would like to find out more about what they are studying or who is meeting where, please write to yabs@ibc-giessen.org

Mid-Week Bible Study continues on Wednesday evening at 7pm in the Israel Room in the FTH. For those unable to make it for that time, you are more than welcome to join this study on Israel’s Kings via Zoom. Don’t feel that you need to have attended every session to be part of the study group – newcomers are always welcome!

Sunday morning at 11am we will meet in the Chapel Room of the FTH for our weekly Worship Service. As it is the first Sunday of the month we will also be partaking in the Lord’s Table. If you are watching online, you may wish to prepare some bread and juice before logging on.

If you require a link to our livestream or any other online activity we have coming up this week, please e-mail office@ibc-giessen.org. For a full list of all upcoming events at IBC Giessen, please take a look at the Church Calendar on our website: https://www.ibc-giessen.org/calendar/.

A repeat announcement…

… but this time with dates!

Planned a little earlier this year, so that it doesn’t clash with the school summer holidays – our Church BBQ will take place after the service on 22nd June. We will provide the sausages and drinks, so all we are looking for is salads and desserts! There will be a list as you enter the Chapel Room for Sunday service, where you can put your name down. If you’re not sure what you’ll bring with you, that’s fine, but we still ask that you sign-up so that we have an idea of how many sausages we’ll need to purchase.

A little further into the summer – this time toward the end of the summer holiday – we are planning on having a Baptism Service. It will take place after the service on 10th August. Baptism is a public declaration of faith, so we would love to see a big turn-out in support of our brothers and sisters in Christ. If you are interested in taking this step in your faith, we encourage you to get in touch with one of our Pastors as soon as possible.

God’s richest blessings to you and all who you meet this week!
